Three Days In Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, there is no denying it. You only have 3 days to explore this beauty until your hearts content? Here's our guide to what you shouldn't miss:

1. Edinburgh Castle

You could lose yourself for hours here, indulge in the history, take in the architect, admire the beauty, remember the past. We recommend you spend at least 2.5 hours here, there is just so much to take in. There are the prisons below the tower that make you gasp at the conditions, there are also walking tours that explain in depth the history of the castle and all the tails that it holds inside its walls. If you are keen to learn then we would recommend joining the walking tour, it is free and only takes around an hour.

 2. Holyrood Palace

A Trip to Edinburgh is not complete without a visit to the Holyrood Palace, it has such beautiful architecture. You can imagine the history that has took place over the years here. The Queen spends one week here every year and there's not doubt why, it is just so beautiful. Spend 2-3 hours here wandering the rooms filled with beautiful furniture and paintings or lose yourself in the picturesque gardens.

3. Arthurs Seat

For the best views of Edinburgh a hike up Arthur's seat is a must. This is not for the faint hearted! but it is worth every step it takes for the breath-taking views over Edinburgh. Sit for a while and drink it all in, the buildings, the sea, the greenery, it has it all.

Stunning views!

4. St. Giles Cathedral
St Giles Cathedral is an extraordinary place of worship within Edinburgh it has an active congregation of several hundred people, it also receives over 400,000 visitors a year! imagine how many people from all different walks of life have laid there eyes on Giles' stunning architecture, sit in the comfortable silence and enjoy.

5. Edinburgh Zoo

One of the less historical sights of Edinburgh, but extremely fun none-the-less. Edinburgh zoo has such an amazing array of animals from Zebras to Pandas, it is every adult and child's dream. We would recommend spending an afternoon here.

Our recommended itinerary:

Day 1. Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles Cathedral, Evening meal/drinks

Day 2. Holyrood Palace, Arthurs Seat, Ghost walk around St Mary's close

Day 3. Edinburgh Zoo, Explore the bars and restaurants along the Royal Mile.

This is our exact itinerary from our 3 day trip to Edinburgh, we managed to make the most of it and see as much as we can. Of course you can change this to suit your own interests and personal taste.
